Stars including Demi Moore, James Franco and Seth Rogen have taken to social media to urge their fans to donate to fashion designer Prabal Gurung's fundraising drive to help deliver aid to those affected by the Nepal earthquake.

More than 2,000 people have been killed since a 7.9-magnitude earthquake rocked Nepal on Saturday (25Apr15) and celebrity designer Gurung, who was raised in the country, moved quickly to set up a fundraising page on Crowdrise.com to ask for donations for his organisation Shikshya Foundation Nepal's relief fund.

On the charity page, he writes, "The immediate need on the ground is for medical support, search and rescue, emergency shelters and food and water among many other things. As the days, weeks and months go by and after the humanitarian needs are addressed, Nepal will need to begin the healing and rebuilding process... we will distribute 100% of the funds accordingly based on the latest needs on the ground. Please donate generously and spread the word."

A host of celebrities have helped to promote the relief fund page on Twitter.com, with other stars including Jaime King, Hailee Steinfeld, Judd Apatow and Olivia Wilde. More than $77,000 had been raised as WENN went to press.

Other concerned stars, including One Direction, Nick and Kevin Jonas, Ricky Gervais, Ricky Martin, Busy Phillipps and J.K. Rowling, have also tweeted about various other aid funds.

Meanwhile, actress Sophia Bush took to Twitter on Saturday to pay tribute to her ex-boyfriend, Google executive Dan Fredinburg, who was among those killed in an avalanche caused by the earthquake in Nepal while climbing Mount Everest.
