Jonny Lee Miller and Christy Turlington will have to put their running shoes back in the closet - the New York Marathon has been cancelled.
City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's decision to allow the big race to go ahead on Sunday (04Nov12) in the wake of Hurricane Sandy was met with criticism as victims of the superstorm were still struggling to get back to normality.
And just as power was returned to much of lower Manhattan, where the race is run, on Friday (02Nov12), it was announced the marathon had been scrapped.
A statement from the Mayor's office reads: "We have decided to cancel the NYC marathon."
Thousands of participants had already gathered in New York in preparation for the race, including Miller and Turlington, who have both been training for months.
