Stalled Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence film gets greenlight

Bosses at Sony Pictures have finally given the go ahead for Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence to shoot sci-fi romance Passengers after the project spent years stuck in development.

The sci-fi film, which features colony ship passengers on a decades-long interstellar journey, has been on the back burner for years, and other stars previously linked to the project have included Keanu Reeves, Reese Witherspoon and Rachel McAdams, who reportedly exited the production in 2014.

Pratt and Lawrence are now both believed to be onboard Passengers, along with The Imitation Game director Morten Tyldum, and filming is slated to begin in September (15), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The news tops a stellar week for Pratt, whose new dinosaur blockbuster Jurassic World made box office history by scoring the biggest global launch of all time over the weekend (12-14Jun15) with sales in excess of $550 million.
