Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner is shutting down allegations suggesting she used the 'N' word in a recent Instagram video post.

The actress briefly featured in a gym clip alongside her boyfriend, Joe Jonas, which was shared online by fitness expert Brendan Fallis.

In the footage, Brendan pans the camera round to Joe, who says hi to fans, before Sophie is shown sitting on the floor and greeting followers by saying, "What's up", followed by a muffled insult.

Critics were quick to attack the 21-year-old online for appearing to utter the racial slur, with many expressing their distaste for her alleged remark on Twitter.

The controversy was further fueled after Brendan chose to delete the post from his Instagram profile.

However, Sophie insists she was simply misheard because such an "abhorrent word" would never cross her lips.

"I want to make it clear that I would never use such an abhorrent word," she explains in a statement issued to E! News."

DNCE frontman Joe, who began dating Sophie in October (16), has yet to comment on the incident.
