Sophia Bush helps stranded couple get to their wedding

Sophia Bush has helped a stranded couple make their wedding after hearing of their plight on social media.

Gus and Jessie were travelling from Los Angeles to their upcoming wedding in Seattle, Washington when disaster struck and their car broke down in Nevada. The brakes cut out while on a slope on a mountain top, and the trailer containing their wedding accessories "almost went off a cliff."

They were left stranded in their trailer with their dogs and little cell service, until the former One Tree Hill star spotted their story on Instagram, plus details of their GoFundMe page, and reposted the information, adding a message to car companies asking them for help.

"Hey @enterprise_inspires, @alamorentacar, @thriftyrentacar, @hertz, @audi who wants to be a hero and help these about-to-be-newlyweds @ragmopandgoose?," Sophia wrote.

Sophia wasn't alone either - former Grey's Anatomy star Kate Walsh shared the Instagram post, adding, "Feels like a good #internetweddingpresent," while UnREAL's Constance Zimmer followed suit on Twitter, writing, "Wanna help a stranger today? It feels good, trust me" with a link to the fundraising page

Their work paid off and the couple received around $3,500 in online donations and a brand new Audi which could tow their trailer to Seattle in time for the wedding.

Sophia celebrated on Instagram, writing,"over the course of the last 5 hours so many people have jumped in to to try and help these two. We have a car en route to them now -- with a trailer hitch for their #tinyhouse and two pups!!... HUMANS ARE AMAZING AND THE WORLD IS GLORIOUS AND GOOD K BYYYYYYE (sic)."

The couple posted a snap of them standing in front of their new car and thanked Sophia for helping their story "spread like wildfire". They added, "Not only will this car get us to our wedding, but it will get us back home. Holy c**p you guys, we honestly don't even have words for all that has happened today. All we can say is thank you."
