Solange Knowles' tax lien was residency mix-up
R&B singer Solange Knowles is "in the process" of having a California tax lien removed from her records after a mix-up over her residency status.
Beyonce's younger sister hit headlines over the weekend (27-28Dec14) after it was revealed she had been slapped with a bill for $55,000 in outstanding state taxes for earnings from 2010 to 2012.
The lien was issued on 19 November (14) - three days after she wed
music video director Alan Ferguson in her new home city of New
Orleans, Louisiana.
The star subsequently took to her Twitter.com blog to joke about
the invoice, suggesting she had no idea she owed taxes, writing,
"Well thanks for letting me know, lol (laugh out loud)..."
However, her representative has since revealed the lien was sent in
error and they are working on resolving the issue.
The spokesperson tells Eonline.com, "The lien is in the process of
being removed as there was simply confusion on whether Solange was
a California resident. We can expect this to come to a swift
close."
Knowles relocated to Louisiana last year (13) after spending
several years living in Brooklyn, New York.
