Sofia Vergara wears makeup in the shower

Sofia Vergara refuses to look plain and unpolished around the house because she wants to be seen at her best at all times.

The Modern Family star wed Joe Manganiello in November (16) and insists he's the perfect husband, who never has a bad word to say about his bride, but she isn't taking any chances.

"I always have something on, even if I’m going to shower," the 44-year-old actress tells People. "I put on a little bit of mascara, a little bit of blush and some lipstick. I usually wear my hair down. I don't really like my hair up, it gives me a headache."

Cooing about her husband of nine months, Sofia tells the publication the actor is the kind of guy "that doesn’t see imperfections", adding, "He just thinks that I have a nice figure, great skin, great hair and that’s all he needs."

But she doesn't see herself through his eyes, revealing age is beginning to creep up on her.

"I have to work out my legs more because my knees are starting to look weird," she says.

However, the star will never be one to complain about ageing, insisting she's glad she has reached her 40s.

"I think you’re a better person," she adds. "You’re more mature, you know what you want, you know what’s important and you don’t sweat the small stuff. I wish I had that knowledge in my 20s."
