Singer Rachel Platten cries as she meets young cancer patients

Pop newcomer Rachel Platten was reduced to tears on TV on Monday (03Aug15) after meeting two young cancer patients who have found strength in her debut single Fight Song.

The singer was a guest on daytime show The View, where she heard stories from the parents of baby Isabelle, who is recovering from an operation to remove a spinal cord tumor, and Eva, who took her first steps to Fight Song after becoming paralyzed following brain tumor surgery.

Clearly moved by the touching accounts, Platten said, "I didn't go into music to make hit songs; I went into music to touch people's lives, and the fact that I get to do that with my first single, it's a dream come true. It's amazing."

The star later performed her hit song for her young fans as she wiped away tears at the piano.
