Selena Gomez makes Instagram account private after interview complaint

Pop star Selena Gomez has made her Instagram account private after expressing her dissatisfaction with a recent interview published in Billboard magazine.

The Come and Get It hitmaker blocked users who weren't already among her 130 million followers from viewing her profile on the photo-sharing site on Tuesday (05Dec17), shortly after taking issue with the reporter's observance of a giant teddy bear, a gift from a fan, which had been abandoned on the floor of her home.

She zoomed in on the passage in question in an Instagram Story post, which read: "There's a five-foot teddy bear sprawled across the kitchen floor in Selena Gomez's North Hollywood home. 'I know, I know,' says Gomez, rolling her eyes, acknowledging that the stuffed animal doesn't quite blend with the trio of armchairs nestled in the inviting, marble-accented nook. 'It was a gift, and at first I thought, 'This is so ridiculous, I can't wait until I give it away to another person.'' But Gomez, 25, hasn't let go of it - yet."

Selena was clearly upset about the way she came across in that part of the article, and, writing in dark pink text over the piece, she declared: "Never will I let another human guess my words ever again. Or invite them in my home. That is so hurtful. The most 'ridiculous' part of that is no one knowing my heart when I say things".

Soon after she uploaded the complaint, Selena, who was recently named the most-followed person on Instagram for the second consecutive year, made her account private.

The Instagram Story post has since been deleted, but it was already too late as bloggers had shared screenshots of the grumbling online.

It appears Selena had only just gotten around to reading the whole Billboard article, as on Friday (01Dec17), she publicly thanked editors for featuring her on the front of their Women of the Year issue.

"Thank you @billboard," the Woman of the Year honoree captioned an image of the cover.

The singer/actress had picked up her title on Thursday night (30Nov17), when she attended the 2017 Billboard Women in Music Awards in Los Angeles.
