Selena Gomez has learned to love her 'wonderfully made' body after kidney transplant

Selena Gomez's kidney transplant operation this summer has given the singer a big body confidence boost.

The Come and Get It star was given a huge health boost in her battle with lupus after best friend Francia Raisa donated her kidney over the summer (17), and now she admits the operation has also helped with appearance issues.

Selena struggled at first with the scar from the surgery, but a good naked session in front of the mirror helped her realize that all the things she used to complain about were ridiculous.

"I remember looking at myself in the mirror completely naked and thinking about all the things that I used to b**ch about and just asking, 'Why?'" she tells Billboard.

"I had someone in my life for a very long time who pointed out all the things that I didn't feel great about with myself. When I look at my body now, I just see life."

And, if there ever comes a time when the lovely Latina is unhappy with what she sees in the mirror, she is committed to making changes: "There are a million things I can do - lasers and creams and all that stuff - but I'm OK with it. And by the way, there's nothing wrong with (plastic surgery)... There is absolutely zero judgment on my end.

"I just think, for me, it could be my eyes, my round face, my ears, my legs, my scar. I don't have perfect abs, but I feel like I'm wonderfully made... Maybe I'm like, 'You know what? It's time for a little tuneup'. But I want to make sure that I'm doing it because I'm OK with where I am."

Gomez has also been given a huge career boost after Billboard editors named her their Woman of the Year. The star will pick up the honor at a gala on Thursday (30Nov17).
