Sarah Silverman and actor boyfriend Michael Sheen's relationship has become long-distance following his return to his native U.K.
The Welsh actor had been living in Los Angeles for years to be close to his daughter Lily, who he shares with ex-girlfriend Kate Beckinsale, and during his time there he met Sarah and they began dating in 2014.
However, Lily turned 18 in January (17) and is gearing up to go to college later this year, so Michael made the decision to return home to become more politically involved - meaning the couple is now separated by the Atlantic Ocean.
Speaking to ex-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday, Sarah said, "I call him my on-again, off-again lover because we're apart by oceans. Or, well, one ocean... You know me, I'm a loner, so it's OK."
She explained the situation, adding, "His daughter turned 18 and he wanted to go home. He was here to be with his nearest daughter, now she's off, she's gonna start her own life…
"You know how I'm like, kind of politically active? Well he wants to be (too), and he needs to be home to do that, so he's there a lot... And then we just long for each other and we see each other and we love each other."
Sarah, 46, was hospitalized last year with a life-threatening case of epiglottitis, the inflammation and swelling of the epiglottis in the larynx, and she praised Michael, 48, for being there for her despite working on his former TV show, which was canceled last year.
"He was there by my side the whole time," she said. "He would shoot Masters of Sex and then just sleep in a chair next to me."
Sarah dated U.S. host Jimmy from 2002 to 2009 and he has since gone on to marry comedy writer Molly McNearney and have two children, Jane, two, and William, who was born in April.
The funnywoman congratulated Jimmy on his new child and jokingly added, "I guess it really is over (between us)."
