Sarah Hyland splits from Matt Prokop

Actress Sarah Hyland has split from longtime boyfriend Matt Prokop.

The Modern Family star and Prokop began dating in 2009, after meeting while auditioning for High School Musical 3: Senior Year, but they have parted ways amicably, her representative confirms to Us Weekly magazine.

A source tells the publication, "Sarah's doing fine. It didn't work out. She's young. They decided they would be better off as friends."

Any heartbreak Hyland has following the split was not on show at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday (25Aug14), when her TV show picked up a handful of top trophies, including Best Comedy.
