Ryan Reynolds: 'Blake thought I was twisted when I took my Deadpool outfit home!'

Ryan Reynolds' wife Blake Lively feared he was planning something "twisted" when he brought his Deadpool costume home.

The 39-year-old actor wed former Gossip Girl star Blake in September 2012 and the pair are parents to daughter James. Ryan's latest role sees him star as homicidal mercenary Deadpool in the film of the same name, and the actor admits his spouse was more than a little concerned by his decision to bring the character's famous red and black outfit home.

"At first I think she was concerned, like 'Why are you taking this home? Is this some sort of twisted thing I need to worry about?'" Ryan revealed on Good Morning Britain on Friday (05Feb16). "(I emerged from the bathroom) ready to go... 'Happy anniversary! I'm a guy in a heavily armed machine spiral suit!'"

Once Ryan realised Blake wasn't interested in getting to know Deadpool intimately, he decided to put the suit downstairs. It now acts as a burglar repeller, but also leaves the couple's dogs terrified.

"It's just downstairs in our little TV room and it scares our dogs," he laughed. "It's literally standing there, backlit - I'd hate to be the person who breaks into our house and sees that. It would be very terrifying."

Ryan and Blake welcomed their baby girl into the world in December 2014, and divided opinion when they revealed the child's moniker. However, Ryan insisted he doesn't think James is that unusual a choice considering many of his peers' options for their offspring.

"In the spectrum of weird celebrity baby names I feel like we are not really breaking any new ground here," he said. "I didn't call her Summer Squash Meadowlark or something... I also just thought of going with all the letters being silent in her name and it would just be pronounced (exhale). Brought to you by the department of giving celebrities dumb ideas!"

Both Ryan and Blake have taken to parenthood well, with the actor admitting he loves nothing more than being with his daughter. While he is relishing fatherhood, he knows he's not in a unique situation.

"I love it (being a father)," he said. "For everyone that does it it's the most common thing in the world and yet it's also the most profound so it's this weird paradox.

"You just don't want to be one of those awful celebrities who are talking about it like they're the only person on earth who has ever managed to conceive and bear a child. I see that it's something to celebrate with a lot of my friends who are also having kids - it's super fun, I love it."
