Ryan Phillippe's Shooter to be cut by two episodes following actor's leg break

The second season of Ryan Phillippe's TV series Shooter has been cut to eight episodes so the actor can fully recover from a leg injury.

Phillippe broke his leg on 16 July (17) in an accident that happened while his USA network drama series still had two episodes left to shoot for its 10-episode second season.

Producers were mulling how they would adjust the production schedule and they have now decided to air just the completed eight episodes.

"Our priority is Ryan's recovery, and after conversations with our partners at (network) USA and (production company) UCP we've decided that we will wrap S2 with episode 208," a statement from a representative for Paramount TV to Deadline.com reads.

In the drama, Phillippe plays an expert marksman living in exile, who is lured back into action following a plot to kill the U.S. president.

The actor recently posted photos of himself in a hospital bed with his leg in plaster online and assured fans he was going to be fine. He wrote: "i’m going to be ok & i appreciate your concern."

It's still not clear what happened to the actor, but his Shooter castmate Omar Epps recently told The Talk the injury had not happened on set.

"I don't know (what happened); I haven't spoken to him yet... but it didn't happen on set," he said. "It was just some sort of accident, but he's gonna be alright."
