Ryan Gosling to direct The Idolmaker reboot

Ryan Gosling is stepping behind the camera to make his directorial debut with a remake of The Idolmaker.

The Blue Valentine star will try his hand at filmmaking as he helms a reboot of the 1980 musical, which he also plans to star in, according to Deadline.com.

The original movie, which was based on the life of rock promoter Bob Marcucci, was directed by Dame Helen Mirren's husband Taylor Hackford.
