Ryan Gosling regrets he was 'oblivious' to Weinstein's inappropriate behavior

Ryan Gosling is "deeply disappointed" in himself for failing to recognize Harvey Weinstein's alleged lewd conduct around women.

The La La Land star worked with the disgraced film mogul on the drama Blue Valentine in 2011, and maintains he was unaware of claims of sexual abuse and harassment.

The 36-year-old took to Twitter on Thursday (12Oct17) to share his words of support for the females who have come forward with accusations against Weinstein.

"I want to add my voice of support for the women who have had the courage to speak out against Harvey Weinstein," he tweeted. "Like most people in Hollywood, I have worked with him and I'm deeply disappointed in myself for being so oblivious to these devastating experiences of sexual harassment and abuse."

Gosling went on to note the scandal represents a greater problem within the entertainment industry and encouraged men and women to come together to fight it.

"(Weinstein) is emblematic of a systematic problem," he added. "Men should stand with women and work together until there is real accountability and change."

Julia Roberts also condemned Weinstein over the decades of inappropriate behavior, which have been detailed in exposes in The New York Times and the New Yorker.

"A corrupt, powerful man wields his influence to abuse and manipulate woman. We've heard this infuriating, heartbreaking story countless times before. And now here we go again," she shared in a statement. "I stand firm in the hope that we will finally come together as a society against this kind of predatory behavior, to help victims find their voices and their healing, and to stop it once and for all."

Blake Lively was another star to join the chorus of those against Weinstein, telling The Hollywood Reporter the shocking accounts from his accusers are all too common.

"It's important that women are furious right now," Lively said. "It's important that there is an uprising. It's important that we don't stand for this and that we don't focus on one or two or three or four stories, it's important that we focus on humanity in general and say, 'This is unacceptable.'"
