Ryan Gosling missed out on superhero role

Ryan Gosling took a role in new movie Drive because he missed out on the chance to star in a superhero film.

The actor appears alongside Carey Mulligan in the movie as a Hollywood stuntman who doubles as a getaway driver, and Gosling has revealed he took on the high-action job because he missed out on the chance to star as a real superhero.

He tells Fox News, "I really wanted to make a superhero film but all the good ones were taken so I thought I would have to make my own at this point... When I read this script I thought there was a way to do that with this stunt driver stuck in the mythology of movies, and that he had become so far removed and watched so many movies, that he started to see his life as one."
