Russell Crowe calls for donations for Texas fire victims

Written by . Published: September 18 2011

Russell Crowe has appealed for aid to help families in Texas after a series of wildfires scorched the state earlier this month (Sep11).

Thousands of residents were evacuated after high winds, brought about by Tropical Storm Lee, sparked dozens of fires in the southern state.

Now the Gladiator star is keen to help out victims in Texas, where he filmed his 2001 live DVD Texas with his band Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts.

In a post on his Twitter.com page, Crowe writes, "3.7 million acres burnt, 2600 homes lost, Texas doing it hard this summer. To help out go to www.texasdisasterrelieffund.org."
