Rihanna granted restraining order against trespassing suspect

R&B star Rihanna has obtained a restraining order against a man who was caught allegedly trespassing on the roof of her California home last week (17Jun13).

The Umbrella hitmaker told law enforcement officials she feared for her safety after Robert Melanson's arrest on 17 June (13), as the suspect was placed on psychiatric hold for two days after his capture.

The 26 year old, who claimed he had no idea the Pacific Palisades house belonged to the singer, was also found clutching detailed property maps of the area when he was taken into custody.

Rihanna has since been granted a temporary protection order against Melanson, who has been ordered to stay 100 yards (91.44 metres) away from the star, her home and her place of business, according to TMZ.com.

A judge will determine if the order should be made permanent on 10 July (13).

Melanson's arrest was the latest incident to occur at the singer's property - an intruder was arrested there in February (13) on suspicion of burglary, while the mansion was raided by Los Angeles police in April (13) amid reports of a shooting as she became another victim of the ongoing celebrity 'swatting' craze.
