Rebecca Ferguson reveals heartbreak after birth of daughter
British singer Rebecca Ferguson split from the father of her newborn daughter during her pregnancy after finding out he had another girlfriend.
The X Factor star gave birth to her third child, daughter Arabella, on 25 October (14), but never revealed the identity of the father, only hinting in interviews that the man is someone she has known for several years.
In a new interview with Britain's Hello! magazine, Ferguson stayed
discreet about her ex-boyfriend, but admitted she went through an
extremely difficult time while pregnant with Arabella.
She confesses, "On the outside everyone must have thought
everything was rosy at home. I kept a smile on my face and kept all
my feelings inside because I had this awful feeling of shame, but I
was heartbroken.
"I was fuming when I found out, I was so angry. The way I was
treated was wrong. I think some people think you're devastated
because you want the man, but it's not that. It's devastating for a
woman because it's a normal thing for your child to be wanted."
However, the pop star insists she doesn't hold a grudge against her
former lover.
She adds, "I don't hold any hate towards him. He wasn't ready to be
a dad and that's up to him. I'm not in his shoes and I can't force
him. I'm happy with his decision now and I wish him and his partner
well."
Ferguson is also grateful for the support from her family and
friends, including former boyfriend Karl Dures, who is the father
of her other two children, Lillie and Karl.
She says, "Karl has been a huge support, we're really good friends.
He was there for the birth and he has offered to adopt her
(Arabella) and be her dad too.
"He has given her his name, which is lovely, so she will be the
same as the other kids."
In fact, the ordeal has even inspired Ferguson to start a website
which allows single mothers who don't have support to chat with
each other and seek advice.
She says, "That's all I kept on thinking. 'If this is hard for me,
imagine if I didn't have people to lean on and a career to look
forward to?"
Ferguson was previously linked to One Direction member Zayn Malik
during their time together on Britain's The X Factor.
