Rapper Future challenges custody in child support case

Written by . Published: July 07 2013

Rapper Future is demanding joint custody of the son he never knew he had.

The hip-hop star, real name Nayvadius Cash, was hit with a lawsuit from Jessica Smith after he rose to fame last year (12), demanding he start paying up to provide for the kid he fathered as a teen.

A DNA test to prove his paternity came back positive and in January (13), he agreed to pay more than $1,600 -a-month in child support to care for the 10 year old.

Smith has since appealed for more cash as she believes 29-year-old Future lied when he told the Georgia court he earned a monthly income of $16,516 , but now he is fighting back.

Future, who is now dating R&B beauty Ciara, claims his income has increased month by month, but insists his ex should not benefit from his rising success, reports TMZ.com.

He has also requested to spend more time with his son after accusing Smith of taking the child out of school without his knowledge. In court documents filed in Georgia last month (Jun13), the rapper suggests Smith "failed to deliver the minor child to school for unreasonable periods of time and/or delivered the child to school in tardy fashion".

Future is also asking for Smith to pay his attorney's fees.
