Rachael Leigh Cook's husband confirms baby birth

Actress Rachael Leigh Cook's husband has confirmed the pair has welcomed its first child.

Despite early reports of the star giving birth to a baby boy, Daniel Gillies reveals his wife actually welcomed a daughter.

The Originals star writes on Twitter.com, "It's a girl. the tiny new empress of my everything. she's immaculate. we're delirious."

The She's All That star revealed earlier this year (13) that she had learned the gender of the baby, but kept the fact private between her and Gillies.

She said, "We didn't plan to (find out) initially, but my husband and I have largely been apart for this thing, which was very difficult on several levels, so finding out the sex seemed like a good way to make it all seem more real."

Cook and Gillies married in 2004.
