Psy's Gentleman video banned by South Korean TV bosses
Psy's new video for Gentleman has been banned by TV network executives in South Korea over his destruction of public property in the promo.
The rapper's follow-up to Gangnam Style opens with the star strolling down a street and kicking over a traffic cone and continues with the hitmaker tormenting beautiful women in a series of pranks.
The cone sequences have offended channel chiefs at KBS, who insist
they amount to the destruction of public property, and they are
refusing to air the clip for fear of negatively influencing
youngsters to do the same.
Psy's managers have accepted the ban after refusing to edit the
video for the network, but the snub appears to have just boosted
the promo's popularity online - Gentleman smashed online records on
Saturday (13Apr13) with almost 19 million YouTube.com views in its
first 24 hours on release.
Gentleman has since racked up over 144 million views in its first
five days online, but it still has a way to go before matching the
success of Gangnam Style - that promo became the first pop clip to
ever reach one billion views.
