Prince William pays tribute to mum Princess Diana with new baby name
Britain's Prince William has paid a touching tribute to his late mother Diana, Princess Of Wales by naming his newborn daughter after the beloved royal.
The latest addition to the U.K. royal family is named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, the prince and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge announced on Monday (04May15).
In a statement, the couple's representatives at Kensington Palace
wrote, "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce
that they have named their daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. The
baby will be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of
Cambridge."
The announcement came as the birth of Princess Charlotte on
Saturday (02May15) was marked with a ceremonial gun salute across
London on Monday (04May15).
Crowds gathered in the capital to watch as members of the military
welcomed the new royal baby with simultaneous ceremonies at the
Tower of London and in Hyde Park.
Shortly before the gun salute in Hyde Park, the Royal Artillery
Band entertained the crowds by playing Isn't She Lovely, the song
written by Stevie Wonder to celebrate the birth of his daughter
Aisha.
Princess Charlotte is a sibling for William and Catherine's son
Prince George, who turns two in July (15).
