Prince William: 'No one should be bullied for their sexuality'
Britain's Duke Of Cambridge has spoken out against homophobic "bullying".
Prince William is the first member of the royal family to appear on the cover of a leading LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) magazine, gracing the front of Britain's Attitude. While his mother, the late Princess Diana, was considered a gay icon, she never granted gave an interview to any LGBT publications. The magazine's celebrity cover stars have previously included Gary Barlow, Daniel Radcliffe and One Direction star Liam Payne.
The 33-year-old appears on the cover in a stunning close-up photo
of him smiling, dressed in a simple, crisp, white shirt. In the
accompanying interview William voiced his views on homophobia.
"No one should be bullied for their sexuality or any other reason,"
he stated.
The father-of-two urges anyone who is being bullied to seek out
support from someone they trust or bullying helpline.
"Speak to a trusted adult, a friend, a teacher, Childline, Diana
Award or some other service and get the help you need," he pleaded.
"You should be proud of the person you are and you have nothing to
be ashamed of."
The magazine went to press days before the mass shootings at an
Orlando gay nightclub. William revealed the news of his
groundbreaking interview with the magazine as he and wife
Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, signed a book of condolence
for victims of the massacre at the U.S. Embassy in London on
Tuesday (14Jun16).
After writing a message, William told a member of staff who works
on LGBT issues he would be appearing in the magazine.
The full interview with Prince William is in the latest issue of
Attitude out on Wednesday (22Jun16).
