Prince William opened up the grounds of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's London residence Buckingham Palace for its first ever soccer match on Monday (06Oct13).

The Duke of Cambridge oversaw the game, which was in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the U.K.'s Football Association (FA) , of which he is president.

Before the match between Britain's oldest sides, Civil Service FC and Polytechnic FC, the prince warned the players to be on their best behaviour.

He said, "I cannot tell you how excited I am that later today we will be playing football on my grandmother's lawn. One warning, though: if anyone breaks a window, you can answer to her."

Queen Elizabeth II, who has been a patron of the FA for 61 years, was not present at the game, which the Polytechnic won 2-1.
