British royal Prince William and his wife Catherine showed they both have a head for the stock market by raising a staggering $540 million in share deals on Wednesday (09Dec15).

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hit the trading floor at brokerage firm ICAP's annual Christmas Charity Day in London to help raise money for good causes.

They picked up the phones to deal with brokers around the globe and managed to close $540 million worth of deals, according to reports.

Stock trading was not the only activity the royal couple enjoyed - they happily joined in office-based games of basketball and table tennis as their colleagues for the day cheered them on.

Charities set to benefit from the 2015 fundraiser include Sportsaid and the mental health organisation Place2be, which is supported by the duchess, and youth charity Skillforce, which has the prince as a patron.
