Prince helped a triumphant women's basketball team celebrate a prestigious victory by playing a free three-hour concert for the players and club staff.

The Purple Rain icon is a big fan of the Minnesota Lynx sports side and he was thrilled when the stars won the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) championship on Wednesday evening (14Oct15).

To celebrate, he invited the players, training staff, and stadium officials to his Paisley Park complex in Minnesota following the win, and he took to the stage after midnight to play an epic gig, according to the local Star Tribune newspaper.

During the concert, which finished at around 4am on Thursday (15Oct15), video screens flashed up the message "2015 WNBA Champions", and Prince even played a version of classic Queen track We Are The Champions.
