Rapper Pitbull is taking his talents to the small screen to produce a new TV drama set in his hometown of Miami, Florida.

Executives at the Fox network have picked up a series named 305, after Miami's area code.

According to Deadline.com, the show is centred on an inner-city teen sent to live with his celebrity chef uncle.

Pitbull will executive produce the project, which is written by Survivor's Remorse writer Sascha Fox and directed by Warm Bodies filmmaker Jonathan Levine.

The Cuban-American star has already has a successful history with the Fox network - for the past few years, they have been airing New Year's Eve specials which he produces and hosts live from Miami.
