Pitbull entering restaurant business with Miami fast-food chain

Written by . Published: July 26 2012

Pitbull has become a part-owner of a popular fast-food restaurant chain in his native Miami, Florida.

The I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho) hitmaker has been brought on board as a "significant" shareholder of The New Miami Subs Grill franchise in a deal which bosses hope will help to revive the ailing 1990s brand.

The terms of Pitbull's agreement have not been disclosed, but he has reportedly been granted expansion rights to parts of Latin America and the Caribbean.

And the hip-hop star admits he's delighted to be involved in the relaunch of the company.

Referring to the city's 305 area code in an interview with the Miami Herald about the new venture, Pitbull says, "Anyone who knows Miami, knows Miami Subs and they love the Miami Subs food. What's better than Mr. 305 to be involved with Miami Subs. It's about two Miami brands being able to grow together. Where we can take it is limitless."

In Twitter.com post on Wednesday (25Jul12), he adds, "very gr8ful (grateful) 4 (sic) the opportunity to be an owner @miamisubs luv (sic) the power of 305 (Miami) coming 2gether (sic)!"
