Pink donates to filmmaker's documentary fundraiser
Pop punk and new mom Pink has pledged her support to the makers of an eye-opening new documentary about child sex trafficking in the U.S.
The So What hitmaker has joined a campaign to raise money for filmmaker Libby Spears to complete Playground: The Child Sex Trade in America. She's also looking for a distribution deal for the project in a bid to boost awareness and bring an end to sex slavery and human trafficking.
Spears has turned to fundraising website Kickstarter.com to appeal
for public donations in a bid to reach her initial goal of $50,000
by 20 June (12), although she'd like to raise a total of $200,000
to make the movie.
As WENN went to press, the fledgling campaign had raised $2,375 -
and Pink, who gave birth to baby daughter Willow last year (11),
was one of the 11 backers who had donated generously.
And the singer has turned to her fans to add to the funds.
In a Twitter.com post on Friday (18May12), she provided followers
with a link to the project and wrote, "I just backed PLAYGROUND:
The Child Sex Trade in America on @Kickstarter".
Actress Ashley Judd has previously voiced her support for the film
and appeared in a video about the impact of Playground online.
