Pharrell joins The Voice
Pharrell Williams has signed on as a new coach for TV talent show The Voice.
The Happy hitmaker is taking over the spinning red chair once occupied by Cee Lo Green, who announced he would be leaving the show in February (14).
Williams reposted the official announcement on Twitter.com on
Monday (31Mar14), adding, "This is going to be so fun."
Williams, who previously appeared on the show as a guest mentor for
Usher's team in season four, joins the rotating schedule of
coaches, with Shakira and Usher currently on the roster, filling in
for Green and Christina Aguilera. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton
have been fixtures on all seasons since the beginning.
The Grammy winner will make his debut on the upcoming seventh
season of the show, which will air this autumn (14).
The Voice executive producer Mark Burnett says, "I am thrilled to
have Pharrell come back to The Voice family, and this time... as a
coach. Continuing in The Voice tradition of having the biggest and
most current music stars as coaches, Pharrell fits perfectly."
