Game Of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is spearheading a campaign to outlaw the sale of cosmetics tested on animals.
Officials at Cruelty Free International were celebrating last month (Mar13) after European lawmakers introduced new legislation banning hair and beauty products that had been trialled in vivisection laboratories.
Now the group is looking overseas - and Dinklage is leading campaigners' calls for authorities in his homeland to clamp down on sales of cosmetic products tested on animals.
He says, "I am so pleased to support Cruelty Free International and be part of the global campaign to end cosmetics tests on animals. It is unacceptable that animals continue to suffer around the world, including the United States of America, for the sake of beauty. I appeal to the USA to follow the European Union's lead and end animal testing for cosmetics."
Other celebrity backers of the drive including funnyman Ricky Gervais and soul star Joss Stone.
