Paul McCartney backs Miley Cyrus over raunchy routines
Miley Cyrus has won the support of Sir Paul McCartney over her raunchy routines, urging critics to lay off and insisting: "We've seen worse than that."
The Beatles icon made a special effort to check out the former Hannah Montana star's controversial performance with Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards in August (13) and also viewed her promo for single Wrecking Ball, in which she is naked save for a pair of boots.
Both incidents have sparked a wave of accusations that the former
child star has gone too far in sexualising her image, but McCartney
is baffled and believes Cyrus is being treated unfairly.
He tells Sky News, "You know what, I don't think it was explicit at
all. You couldn't see anything! I watched it just as an experiment,
to check. But obviously you look at it and you go, 'What's everyone
shouting about?'. I thought it was only mildly shocking. I know she
is dancing with Robin Thicke at the awards - so what? Come on!
We've seen worse than that."
