Parker 'sobbed' over inaccurate gossip article

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker spent a night crying to her husband Matthew Broderick after a recent tabloid report suggested she had complained about serving jury duty.

The Sex and the City star was ordered to appear at Manhattan Federal Court in New York in June (11) to take part in jury selection for a fraud trial, but she was not needed as the panel had been filled before she was called.

An article in the New York Post's Page Six gossip column alleged she had been less than enthusiastic about taking on the role because one of her twin daughters was sick with a fever.

Parker spent hours on the phone to reporters at the paper denying the story and was devastated when editors still published the item, causing her to spend a night "sobbing to Matthew" because she was horrified by the allegation.

She tells Marie Claire magazine, "For Page Six to be so cavalier - I was so outraged by the character assassination!

"I have served so many times, I was asked to come speak at Jury Appreciation Day!"

Parker, a former Broadway child star, admits she still struggles to read negative stories about herself, because she doesn't want fans to think she is a diva.

She says, "I expect I should be more calloused by now, but I am so sensitive about not ever living up to anybody's worst idea about an actor who is well-known."
