Gwyneth Paltrow has won her first Emmy at the 2011 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards for her guest role on Glee.

Paltrow was named the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of substitute teacher Holly Holiday in the hit TV musical at the Los Angeles ceremony on Saturday (10Sep11).

Meanwhile, singer Justin Timberlake earned his fourth Emmy for hosting comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live.

SNL head writer Seth Myers poked fun at Timberlake after he failed to show up at the event, telling the crowd, "Justin Timberlake really wanted to be here but we said no, they want to see the writers."

Steve Buscemi's drama Boardwalk Empire was another big winner, scooping trophies in art direction, picture editing and make-up categories.

The Creative Arts Emmys recognizes guest stars and technical achievements behind the camera, and serves as a prelude to the Primetime Emmys, which will take place on 18 September (11).
