One Direction to help Simon Cowell create name for new Latino boy band

One Direction have added another swansong appearance before starting their 2016 hiatus - they'll help their mentor Simon Cowell choose the name of his new Latin American boy band during the finale of talent show La Banda.

The British boy band and Cowell will make live video appearances during the Univision show on Sunday (13Dec15), which will feature performances by Pitbull, Wisin and Fifth Harmony.

Cowell will also reveal the five members of his new band and the group's name.

Show judge Ricky Martin will then manage the group, which will appear on Univision's New Year's Eve (31Dec15) TV special. Wisin will produce the new act's first album.

La Banda has been such a big hit in South America, Univision bosses have already signed up for a second season, which will air next year (16).
