Pop stars One Direction are in talks to perform with Brazilian soccer legend Pele at a one-off charity event.

The What Makes You Beautiful hitmakers were surprised by the sportsman during their concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday (10May14) when he appeared on a big screen to give them a video message, suggesting a future musical collaboration.

He says, "I admire and love you. I play the guitar and one day, we'll play together. I don't want to play football (soccer), we'll play guitar, okay? Welcome to Brazil again and good luck."

The soccer star is reportedly taking the proposition seriously and is in talks to work with the group for a charity event.

A source tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "Pele does a lot of work for charity and is keen to make this happen for a good cause. He is an enthusiastic amateur musician and genuinely excited about the prospect of playing guitar with Niall (Horan). At the moment a list of potential dates and venues are being discussed but it is looking likely that this will happen..."

The group finished the South American leg of its stadium tour on Sunday (11May14). The European leg begins in Dublin, Ireland on 23 May (14).
