One Direction fans campaign for tour stop in Finland

Written by . Published: January 22 2014

Hundreds of Finnish One Direction fans took to the streets of Helsinki on Saturday (18Jan14) in a bid to convince the boyband to perform in their country.

The Best Song Ever hitmakers have yet to stage a gig in Finland, so devotees decided to take part in a "1Dwalk" in freezing temperatures to prove their dedication to the boys and hopefully bring their campaign to the stars' attention.

Video footage of the publicity stunt was uploaded on YouTube.com on Sunday (19Jan14) and One Direction singer Niall Horan has already taken note.

He shared a link to the video on his Twitter.com page on Tuesday (21Jan14), as he recovered from a recent knee operation, and wrote, "Our manager just sent this to me! Holy s**t! This is part of the reason why I say to you guys all the time that we have the best fans ever...

"I'm just sittin (sic) here watching Modern Family at home! And I get this! You guys never cease to amaze me, you sexy people! #1DFamily".

Horan underwent an operation earlier this month (Jan14) to correct a long-standing problem with his left knee ahead of the band's next world tour in May (14). The European leg of the trek will kick off this spring with stops in the U.K., Sweden, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain and Germany, but not Finland.
