One Direction battle on in South Africa without Zayn

One Direction battled through an emotional 23-song set in South Africa on Saturday night (28Mar15) as they continued to cope with bandmate Zayn Malik's recent departure.

Almost 100,000 fans packed Johannesburg's FNB Stadium for the boy band's gig in Soccer City for the group's second show without Malik, who quit earlier in the week (beg23Mar15), and it was clear his bandmates were still reeling for his announcement.

Days after Harry Styles was spotted wiping away tears onstage at a gig in Jakarta, Indonesia, it was Liam Payne's turn to get emotional - his voice cracked and he had to walk offstage as the group started up Through the Dark, but he regained his composure and later told the fans, "South Africa, you are my favorite audience. This is literally my favorite gig so far."

Malik wasn't even mentioned during the show and fans didn't seem to care he wasn't there, drowning out the remaining members of the boy band with their screams.

Afterward, Styles tweeted, "Thank you for choosing to spend your evening with us. You have no idea how much we love you right now."
