One Direction announce huge New York show

Pop group One Direction are already making Christmas (12) plans - the British boy band has booked a headlining gig at New York City's fabled Madison Square Garden in December.

Tickets for the festive concert will go on sale on Friday (06Apr12) and are expected to sell out in minutes.

Announcing the big show on Tuesday (03Apr12), One Direction star Niall Horan says, "We are so happy to be playing Madison Square Garden. To be headlining our own show in a venue that has played host to countless legendary acts that we have grown up listening to and adore is obviously a dream come true for us all."

Friday's ticket rush will kickstart an exciting weekend for One Direction fans - the band will appear on a new episode of hit kids show iCarly on Saturday (07Apr12), hours before the band makes its debut on comedy show Saturday Night Live.

One Direction formed on Britain's The X Factor talent show in 2010.
