Nicole Kidman fights tears as she talks about father's death

Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman fought back tears while discussing her father's death during an interview on an Australian radio station on Friday (10Oct14).

The Oscar winner's dad, Dr. Anthony Kidman, passed away on 12 September (14) after suffering a fall while visiting the star's sister, Antonia, in Singapore.

Kidman opened up about the tragedy in an appearance on Australian radio station KIIS 1065's The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Friday morning, and she struggled to contain her emotions as she spoke about the kindness shown to her family following their loss.

She said, "It's beyond sad for us... I have to say so many people did reach out and it's the greatest thing. I used to be like, 'Oh I don't want to intrude, it's awkward' and now having been on the other side of it... It means so much, cards or calls, it means so much. It's the worst thing to go through but he was an amazing man... It is devastating. We have the tightest family, we really do. My mom has got so many friends... now I'm going to get upset!"

The interview was taken off air as Kidman's voice began to falter, and later resumed after she had composed herself.
