Nicki Minaj has tied Aretha Franklin's record for the most Billboard chart hits by a woman.

Her new Make Love track, which features rapper Gucci Mane, has debuted at 78 on the new Billboard Hot 100 countdown, giving the hip-hop star her 73rd mention.

That matches the Queen of Soul's run of hits, although Minaj managed the feat in just over seven years - her first Hot 100 hit was her Knockout collaboration with Lil Wayne in February, 2000. Her first solo hit was Your Love, which reached number 14 in August, 2010.

Minaj is now three hits ahead of Taylor Swift, while Rihanna breaks a tie with Madonna for fourth spot on the rankings, with 58 Hot 100 hits, thanks to the debut of Future's new song, Selfish, on which she features.

Dionne Warwick, Beyonce, and Connie Francis also make the top 10 with over 50 Hot 100 mentions each.

Nicki has been credited as the lead artist on 29 of her chart hits, while Aretha is the solo artist on almost all 73 of her Hot 100 songs.

The soul star, who recently announced her retirement, first hit the countdown in 1961, according to Billboard. Her last mention on the chart came in 1998.

Seventeen of her hits were top 10s, with Respect and I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) - her duet with George Michael - hitting the top spot.

Franklin and Minaj now share 10th place on the list of most prolific Hot 100 acts. The Glee cast leads the list with 207 chart titles, followed by Lil Wayne (133) and Drake (132).
