Nick Jonas' Broadway play to close

Written by . Published: May 09 2012

Nick Jonas' stint on Broadway in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying has been cut short after producers announced the stage show is to close early following sluggish box office sales.

The pop star took on the lead role in January (12) and had been contracted to stay in the production until at least July (12), but producers have now announced the show's final performance will be on 20 May (12).

Ticket sales have taken a noticeable hit recently, with last week's (ends06May12) earnings totalling just $368,000 out of a possible $1.3 million, according to the Press Association.

Producer Michael McCabe says in a statement, "My producing partners and I are extremely grateful to the unbelievably talented company of actors and skillful crew that have given vibrant life to this show for over 500 performances."

The show debuted last year (11) with Daniel Radcliffe in the lead role and was nominated for eight Tony Awards, winning a best actor trophy for John Larroquette.
