Nick Gordon's lawyers detail 'tumultuous year'

Nick Gordon's lawyers have declared "no one has suffered more" from Bobbi Kristina Brown's death than her grieving boyfriend.

The only child of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston died in July (15), six months after she was found face down and unresponsive in a bath tub at the Georgia home she shared with Gordon.

Her autopsy results, which had been sealed in September (15), were finally released on Friday (04Mar16) - on what would have been Bobbi Kristina's 23rd birthday - with coroners determining the aspiring actress died from drug intoxication and drowning. However, they were unable to establish whether the tragic youngster's death was accidental or not.

Police officials are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Bobbi Kristina's death, but on Friday, Gordon insisted having the results made public was "good" news for him, as he has denied any wrongdoing from the start.

His lawyers have since issued a detailed statement to People.com, insisting their client, who has not been charged, has endured a tough year, compounded by a $10 million wrongful death lawsuit filed by his late girlfriend's court-appointed co-conservator, Bedelia Hargrove.

"Nick Gordon's life has been tumultuous since January of 2015 when he lost the love of his life," said state attorneys Jose Baez and Joe S. Habachy. "On top of being prohibited from visiting Bobbi Kristina at the hospital for the last six months of her life, Nick has been publicly humiliated for more than a year.

"Throughout that time, the Fulton County District Attorney's office has tried to make Nick a murderer despite having clear and convincing evidence that Bobbi Kristina's death was nothing more than a tragic accident, evidence that the District Attorney's office fought to seal and conceal from the public rather than allowing her fans to know the truth."

Gordon's legal representatives go on to risk angering Bobbi Kristina's family by adding: "The truth is that Nick tried to save Bobbi Kristina's life. The truth is that Nick cooperated with law enforcement since day one. The truth is that no one loved Bobbi Kristina more than Nick and no one has suffered more as a result of her death than Nick."

Baez and Habachy also accuse prosecutors of helping to villainise Gordon by dragging out the investigation: "The Fulton County District Attorney's Office has had 13 months to investigate. By failing to acknowledge that there is simply no evidence of any wrongdoing, they have in essence helped feed the slanderous media frenzy regarding Nick Gordon."

"Frankly, the right thing for the District Attorney's office to do right now is to tell the public the truth... that this was an accident... or even a suicide, but not a murder," the statement concludes. "And the right thing for everyone to do is let Nick live his life now and let Bobbi Kristina rest in peace."
