Nick Cannon refusing to sign off on Mariah Carey divorce - report

Written by . Published: June 05 2016

Nick Cannon is reportedly refusing to sign off on his divorce from Mariah Carey.

The couple split in 2014 after six years of marriage, and the Touch My Body singer has since moved on with Australian billionaire James Packer, who proposed to the superstar earlier this year (16).

Despite their divorce proceedings, Mariah and Nick have remained close, reuniting to take their five-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan out for special occasions.

However, according to a report on TMZ.com, America's Got Talent host Nick has been taking his time to sign the papers which would make their divorce final, despite being the one who originally filed court documents to end the couple's marriage in December, 2014. Later that month, a property settlement was agreed, with the pair also successfully negotiating the terms of joint custody of their children.

Mariah, 46, has allegedly been trying to get Nick to sign off on the papers for almost a year, but sources claim he is refusing to put pen to paper as he does not want the marriage to end.

A representative for Nick has yet to comment on the report, but his hesitation has allegedly frustrated the Hero hitmaker, as she is due to marry her fiance James later this year (16). The business mogul proposed to the singer during a private dinner party in January (16), when Mariah was surrounded by close friends and family members.

The happy couple has been dating since June, 2015, and spent much of last summer touring around Europe and the Middle East on James' luxury yacht.

This will be Mariah's third marriage, following her first union to music mogul Tommy Mottola, while it's wife number two for James, who separated from model and singer Erica Baxter in 2013.

Nick has been through a tough time recently, as he grieved the loss of his father last month (May16). The entertainer took to Instagram to share the loss of motivational televangelist James Cannon with fans, as he remembered his "Pops" in a series of photos.

"Man I'm gonna miss these Sundays...," he wrote beside a snap of himself and his dad sitting in the front of a convertible car as they headed to church.
