Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon has given embattled star Amanda Bynes a lifeline as she plans a career comeback following a string of legal woes - he has offered to record a new track with the Hairspray star.

Cannon worked with Bynes on kids show All That and he reveals he would be happy to help her get her career on track as she embarks on plans to become a hip-hop star.

He tells Life & Style magazine, "She actually called me and I told her, 'Yo, if you need any help, I got you!' At the end of the day, I know a duet between us would be entertaining!"

And he isn't the only star keen to help Bynes out - she has plans to work with rapper Waka Flocka Flame on her new album, and she told Cannon she couldn't wait to get started.

He adds, "She's real excited about what she's gonna do with Waka... I think she's actually going to make it out of this situation in a positive way."

Bynes was back in court in New York on Tuesday (09Jul13), sporting an aquamarine wig, for the latest hearing in her drug possession and endangerment case, which has been adjourned until August (13).

The actress stands accused of smoking marijuana in the lobby of her apartment building and then throwing a bong out of the window of her apartment during a police raid on her home.

She has also battled a string of traffic violations in the past year.
