Niall Horan: 'Brexit voters will regret their decision'

One Direction star Niall Horan has been left stunned and saddened by the British public's decision to leave the European Union.

Millions took to the polls to vote on Thursday (23Jun16) and a slim majority chose to exit the EU. This means the United Kingdom is destined to withdraw from the 28-state European Union, which was assembled after World War II.

Many musicians were quick to offer up their thoughts and feelings about the historic decision, with Damon Albarn, James singer Tim Booth, Lily Allen, and Bastille among the first stars to go public with their dismay, and now Irish pop star Horan has chimed in, revealing he is deeply disturbed by the 'Brexit' vote.

"It's a sad day," he tweeted on Friday (24Jun16). "The economic impact that this is going to have is definitely going to make those voters regret their decision."

Politically-aware Niall also attacked Nigel Farage, leader of the U.K. Independence Party, who was among those who led the campaign to leave the EU.

"And I see farage is talkin c**p and telling lies as per usual on telly (TV)," the singer added. "Let's see what he does now. He really is a terrible man.

"How can you sway that many people into thinking their health service is going to be funded and when the vote goes your way... Tell them we shouldn't have said that and it was a mistake. Bulls**t."

The 'Brexit' verdict has prompted British leader David Cameron, who urged Brits to vote to stay in the EU, to resign. He announced his decision during an emotional speech outside his Downing Street home on Friday.

Meanwhile, Niall's former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik has also weighed in on the Brexit vote - and he's just as dismayed, asking his fellow Brits, "People gonna wake the f**k up yet?"

Zayn continued with a rant on Twitter, adding: "It's very sad to see society so fragmented esp (especially) in terms of regions, generations and class. We need to pull together now to make it work."
