Nelly Furtado applauds Taylor Swift for standing up to radio host in court

Singer Nelly Furtado has saluted Taylor Swift for standing up to a radio personality she claims grabbed her butt during a backstage meet-and-greet.

The Canadian hopes Taylor's ongoing court case will make lusty radio bosses and promoters think twice before groping a star, insisting she too has been the victim of handsy and inappropriate men throughout her career.

"Been in several meet n' greets where radio staff attempt to cross lines," Nelly tweets. "Love @taylorswift13 for fighting 4 women's safety in the workplace."

Taylor took the stand in the case in a Denver, Colorado courtroom on Thursday (10Aug17), and insisted she knows for a fact local radio personality David Mueller grabbed her backside.

"It was a definite grab, (a) very long grab," the pop star said. "It was long enough for me to be completely sure it was intentional. He stayed on my bare cheek as I lurched away from him uncomfortably.

"The first couple of milliseconds, I thought it must be a mistake. I moved to the side very quickly... It was a very shocking thing that I have never dealt with before… It was underneath my skirt."

Swift has also received praise from pal Lena Dunham and actress Rachael Leigh Cook for challenging Mueller in court after he sued her for slander, claiming her complaints about his alleged groping cost him his job.

She countersued and accused Mueller of assault and battery.

The trial continues.
