Modern Family star Nolan Gould has been accepted to study at the University of Southern California.

The 18-year-old actor revealed he landed a place at the educational institution in an interview on the red carpet at Variety's Power of Young Hollywood event in Los Angeles on Tuesday (08Aug17).

Gould, who plays Ariel Winter's character's younger brother Luke on the hit show about the Dunphy family, revealed the news as he joked that the pair's sibling rivalry is set to continue off-screen when they head to competing schools.

"I actually got accepted to the opposing school," he laughed to Entertainment Tonight, when he was asked about Winter going to UCLA. "It's going to be a TV sibling rivalry for sure. We're definitely gonna have to watch some (college football) games together."

While his 19-year-old co-star plans to study law, Gould plans to delve even deeper into the world of entertainment, which has been his life since the age of three, by studying Cinematic Arts at the historic institution.

"I've spent my entire life in front of the camera and I just am really interested in what goes on behind the camera - so directing, producing, writing, all of that stuff," he explained.

Gould, who is a member of IQ society Mensa and graduated from high school at the age of 13, plans to take a break before he begins his studies due to his filming commitments.

"I'm not (going) this fall because of Modern Family got picked up for two more years, so I deferred for one year," he explained. The brainy teen added he'll reevaluate the situation next year.
